Amazon Hates Me – Day #1 from the A-Z Challenge

I know what you're thinking – Amazon doesn't hate me, and maybe you're right, but Amazon does hate where I live.

I'm beginning to hate where I live, too. Apparently the State of Illinois has gone on a rampage of sorts, taxing everything and anything that has anything at all to do with Illinois, whether the product or service is just passing through Illinois or in residence here.

Illinois even wants to own the Internet so that if any transactions at all take place in or through the State of Illinois, Illinois wants its greedy little fingers in whatever might reap it some rewards.

I used to have Amazon on my blogs in the hopes that one day I might be able to make money from selling Amazon products, but like lots of other businesses who are pulling out of Illinois due to Illinois' excessive tax rates, Amazon has pulled out too.

Illinois businesses are vacating Illinois, and if Illinois doesn't stop raping its residents, the whole state will be a ghost town, or rather ghost state.

To be honest, I wasn't really expecting to make much money from Amazon – I haven't had an Amazon account for more than a couple of months, but I really would have liked to have had the opportunity to make some money from Amazon.

Warning to bloggers planning on moving to Illinois: not only will you not be allowed to sell Amazon products on your blogs, but also some of your favorite businesses may have (in memory of Elvis) left the building.

And that completes Day #1 from the A-Z Challenge. Brought to you by the letter, A.

  1. I heard about that a while back and think it sucks. I finally just hit the $100 payout a day or two ago. It only took me a year and a half or so, LOL.

  2. Great first entry for the challenge! I know a few people who live in Illinois and they mentioned the Amazon issue to me - very uncool!

  3. I didn't know about that amazon thing, IL is slightly evil and expensive, lived there almost my whole whole until recently, moved to Cincinnati, just in time! I moved and they raised all sorts of taxes! I see VeggieTales in your sidebar! My old anmimation professor use to do their storyboards (he might actually still do them). Nice to meet ya!

  5. They're trying to do the same thing out here in California too! Darn governments picking away at the little things during economically trying times ... grr. ;)

  6. Amazing how almost all government entities think that taxes are the solution to all their problems instead of improved financial management and reduction of waste.
